The cohort benchmark for private-market valuation.
Lodestar Index publishes anonymized cohort coverage, sector volatility benchmarks, methodology references, and (Phase 3) protocol-version calibration error reports. The reference layer the private-equity asset class has been missing.
Index v0 — Phase 1, Q1 2027
What ships first: coverage and methodology.
Honest answer to “when does Lodestar publish accuracy?” — coverage and methodology are publishable now. Accuracy is publishable when the data supports it — not before.
| Data set | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Cohort coverage | How many companies are tracked per cohort (Series-B SaaS Infra, etc.); methodology version applied. |
| Sector volatility | Public-comp dispersion within each vertical; rolling 12-month windows. |
| Methodology references | Per-cohort lens weights, materiality weights, evidence-tier policies. |
| Pulse signal feed | Daily peer-transaction + sector-event signal across cohorts (anonymized aggregations). |
| Public-comp aggregations | NTM EV/Revenue, EV/ARR, EV/Gross Profit medians per cohort, refreshed daily. |
| Protocol-version metadata | Which version produced each cohort's reference data. |
v0 ships no accuracy claims. Cohort definitions, sector volatility, public-comp aggregations, and Pulse signal feed go live as Phase 1 deliverables.
Index v1 — Phase 3, 2027+
What ships next: calibration error reports.
Available once 50+ resolved outcomes per cohort exist, per Protocol § 17.
| Data set | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Confidence-grade error rates | Realized error by Public-Only / Issuer-Verified / Transaction-Backed / Council-Reviewed. |
| Protocol-version performance | Calibration error per protocol version, rolling 12-month window. |
| Vertical-module performance | Per-module accuracy claims with documented sample sizes. |
| Cohort calibration histograms | Predicted-vs-realized distributions, anonymized. |
